Here, you can upload any desired file to one of the upload areas of the OWL server. However, only files named according to the "8.3 convention" will be accepted, i.e. FILENAME.EXTender. In addition, no files with the extenders EXE, COM, CMD, BAT, CGI or PL will be accepted. If you want to upload files of these types, please first pack them with a common archiver, such as ZIP). Thanks!
That was it as far as the - unfortunately unavoidable - limitations are concerned. And now let's get to the upload. Please just fill out the following form, and send it off.
Thanks in advance for your upload. And in connection with uploads, here are a few followup explanations on the naming conventions. The file name may only be a maximum of eight characters long, and the extention - following a dot - a maximum of three characters long, to assure maximum software compatibility. The reason is that much PC-based software even today assumes this convention for naming files. And without such software, automatic processing of the files is unfortunately impossible.
A similar situation applies to the length of the description. Although you can write a longer description, the local software will not process the excess. This is a software-related limitation, and we thus want to bring it to your attention before any disappointments occur. :-)
Finally, there are also "inacceptable" file names. Although nothing can really happen even if such files are uploaded, it's a matter of good taste only to distribute files with certain extenders in the form of an archive. Exceptions to this are only the archivers themselves, since it wouldn't make much sense to pack an archiver that would require the archiver itself to unpack the archive. ;-) However, the webmaster will make certain such programs are already available in the form of self-unpacking executables - there's thus no need to upload anything of this type.
